Northlight Theatre is one of the largest theatres in Chicagoland, with over 6,000 subscribers and a reputation for developing new world premieres and bringing intense, entertaining works relevant to the suburban communities of Skokie and Evanston. As their site began to show its age in the era of the mobile phone and the staff found frustration in the old site’s convoluted back end interface, Northlight hired Gameflow to refresh the brand and develop an online toolkit to lead them into their second 25 years. At the same time, Northlight needed to have highly assistive site features to support Northlight’s typically older demographic.
We refined Northlight’s existing brand colors and logo into an elegant, modern look and feel that takes advantage of full-width images and responsive layouts. Our GroundPlan plugin was flexible enough to integrate with the ticketing system of Northlight’s parent venue (the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts) while providing three contextual event calendars for all shows and special events, single production calendars, and a quick “mini” calendar on the homepage. We developed a new design for the theatre’s popular education programs to allow parents, teachers and students to quickly select the right program for their age group and educational goals.
